Photography...of mountains, wild places and water

Mountains…

…inspire in me what the Welsh call “hwyl a hiraeth”, a sense of belonging, and of something missing when it’s not there. At times I feel like something is calling me to the mountains (sometimes even specific ranges, like Snowdonia), so I’m lucky to live in the Brecon Beacons, although at times I just need something…bigger. I hope I bring that to my photography.

Wild Places…

…ok, so not entirely wild places, most places I go to are managed in some way, but I mean somewhat remote, unsanitised, possibly even a bit unkempt. I look for colour, seasonality and dramatic lighting.

Water…

…in all its forms; lakes & reservoirs, rivers & waterfalls -especially waterfalls-the sea and ice all hold a certain fascination for me. I try to capture its movement and its reflective properties (often to the despair of my companions), and will often go to great lengths to get that shot.
