About Sarah Flanagan Art

Sarah Flanagan Art

I am a wildlife artist a paparazzi of the garden/countryside, I see things others do not and reflect them in my work, helping animal rescues via my art.

I am an artist, an observer of the countryside, I have been to art college and university, had my work published worldwide in books, magazines and on TV.
Then a hedgehog staggered across my garden and changed my outlook, it had been injured and sadly it died. But later three baby hedgehogs pottered into my garden and were taken to a rescue and I realised what an army of selfless people we have caring for and looking after our wildlife, hidden from view and sacrificing their time and money to help them. A job I cannot do, I am squeamish. I first drew a hedgehog from life from the rescue and put him on a card and then a mug "hedgemugs" we raised lots and the rescue saved many lives, Lynda became my friend and as we sit in the garden a little prickly pal walks by, recognises her, and tries to run back as she must have jabbed him at one time! Sadly my friend has retired from hedgehog work but I still support another rescue. Then I came across savingbabysquirrels and have helped them in a similar way. My cherry blossom babies are based on real life rescued babies. The Centre for Great Apes in Florida is another rescue for Chimpanzees and Orangutans, I was invited over to the Center and have painted some of the residents, helping to raise money and awareness.
Then along came Twiglet and Willow, two orphaned baby owls who were resident at The Wildlife Orphanage wildlifeorphans.co.uk. I put them into a card to help the orphanage. I have also always supported a cat rescue, as my two helpers were abandoned as kittens and their images were used in cards and sold in my art shop (now since closed).
I run art lessons to help others to understand and enjoy art
