About Sarah Myatt Glass

Sarah Myatt Glass

Contemporary fused glass for you and your home

Hello! My name is Sarah and I’m a self employed glass artist from Leek in Staffordshire. I’ve been running my business for over fifteen years and I work from my studio, which is based in my garden at home accompanied by my dog called Boo.

I graduated in 2000 from the University of Wolverhampton with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in 3D Glass Design. It feels (and is) a very long time ago! We learned many different glass techniques from stained glass, casting and glass blowing, but it was kiln forming that I fell in love with and that’s what I use now in my practice.

I love everything about glass: the huge array of colours and patterns, the feel of glass and the way light can completely change a piece. It can be quite an unpredictable material but it keeps you on your toes! Sometimes the pieces that don’t come out of the kiln exactly as you planned can spark an idea for something else.

I primarily use Bullseye glass and just love the endless possibilities, colour combinations and flexibility.
My studio consists of materials such as sheet glass, rods, frits and metals which are fused together using kiln formed glass techniques.
All of my work is cut, decorated and finished by hand.

A natural theme runs through my work and my range mainly consists of suncatchers that are perfect for windows, walls and even the garden...Birds, Bees, Bunnies and much more besides!

I want my work to bring joy, a burst of colour and to make you smile! I absolutely love being able to create something unique that you can treasure in your home and garden for many years to come.

You can read more about what I make and do by reading the 'Meet the Maker' interview I did with Folksy a while back http://blog.folksy.com/2016/07/26/sarah-myatt-glass-artist
