Unique Hand Painted Silk Sacrves!

I have always painted, drawn and crafted in spare time as well as attending numerous courses from basket weaving to stained glass and watercolour. About ten years ago I learnt more about the art of batik, I enjoyed drawing landscapes with hot wax and then painting with dyes. This led to silk painting because it is easier to add detail with a fine line of gutta and then paint using a palette of brilliant, tranquil colours. For me this is the ideal craft because I can paint a picture or pattern and then turn it into an item such as a scarf.

All scarves are individual and unique and are made with 100% silk. Using the finest silk paints and dyes, I paint patterns, do both marble and tie-dye effects as well as street scenes and landscapes. Some are floral, I have even painted horse images but have to admit that I find it tricky to paint animal successfully.

As well as hand painted, I can now offer hand felted scarves which are ideal when the weather is cooler. These are made by fusing coloured merino wool fleece onto silk chiffon using the natural method of hot water felting. Again with my love of colour and form, I create one off patterns and designs for you to enjoy.

I create all painterly and craft things in a corner of the garden in a wonderful shed that my hubby made. I call it 'The Nook', it is the home for all my creations. But my inspirations come from the surrounding, countryside, villages and towns, and the ongoing beauty of the seasons.
