Crafting has always been a big part of my life. In my younger years growing up in Cambridge, I would always be creative, but it was in 1986 when I first found quilling. Over the past three decades, this is still my passion.
Before I first picked up a quilling tool, I was a regular at the WI indoor market on a Friday morning but the moment I found quilling, I knew that this would be the one hobby that I would enjoy. To this day, I still love making cards and I know that I always will.
I regularly attend the local craft fairs and some shops, in and around Huntingdon, have a selection of my cards to sell. I say that quilling is ‘more than just a hobby’ because I have made some amazing friends over the years. Swapping ideas, being creative together and supporting one another each time we meet up.
I never knew that my card making would make its way on to the Royal stage and after submitting one of my cards (pictured) through to the National Federation of WI, I was honoured that my design was chosen to represent the national WI for the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012. Week’s later, I received a wonderful note of thanks from the Lady in Waiting who expressed that the Queen very much liked the card that I had made.
Only 4 years later, my card was also chosen for the Queen’s 90th birthday.
To me, this was an incredible honour and one that will never be surpassed.
The friends I have made, the thank you cards and letters I have received from as far as Canada make the hours of card making worthwhile.
Thank you for visiting my website.
