Painting and drawing has always been part of my life - inherited from my mother's side of the family. Growing up in Cornwall, the father of a childhood friend who was a founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists, encouraged me and mentored me. I have been privileged to exhibit at the Bankside Gallery in London and much enjoyed my annual Wild Autumn Art exhibition at the Five Arrows Gallery at Exbury Gardens in Hampshire for many years. The British Mycological Society honoured me with a commission to produce a Pocket Guide and then a large Poster of Common Fungi. The year 2020 is our 17th year of producing a Mushroom Calendar. We have endeavoured never to repeat an image - that means I have painted an awful lot of mushroom pictures down the years!
My professional life as a Land Agent / Chartered Surveyor followed qualification from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester (as it was then called) and most of those very happy years were spent practising in my native Cornwall. There was a spell in Hampshire/Dorset which was interesting in many ways, not least from the proximity of the New Forest.
My wife, Christine, scans and prints my paintings and prepares them for sale whether online or for exhibitions. We have now retired back to my native Cornwall where many new opportunities present themselves, not least connected with our nearby woodland.
