Welcome to my Folksy shop!
I've been creative from a young age; I began drawing the moment I learned how to hold a pencil! I've turned my hand to numerous other crafts including watercolours, calligraphy, sewing, embroidery and pottery.
I discovered wire weaving by accident one day in 2019 while searching the internet for other jewellery related techniques.
I instantly fell down the proverbial rabbit hole and, after the most incredibly rewarding - and often infuriatingly frustrating! - journey of self-teaching here I am, ready to share my work with you!
This craft, above all others, has truly captured a piece of my soul - I love what I do with a passion! Envisioning a design, sketching it in my notebook, working out how to put it together and then finally producing a finished piece using some spools of copper wire and just a few basic tools is so exciting! When I know that with just a few more tweaks with my pliers I will have finished a piece (bar the oxidizing and polishing) and brought my vision to life I actually get a little adrenalin rush! All my designs are original and one of a kind, inspired by myths and magic, folklore and fairy tales and bygone eras.
Copper will ozidize naturally over time, primarily when exposed to air, but I like to use an artificial ageing process on my pieces which gives them a beautiful antique look. Each piece is then polished by hand which enhances the high spots in the weaves and provides depth and contrast.
When I'm not making jewellery I'm working at my other small business: dog walking and animal care. I live with my husband and two rescue American bulldogs in a small village on the Norfolk/Suffolk border in the UK.
