The seeds of the idea for our online shop were planted on a walk one day on Rodborough Common. Set high above the Stroud Valleys, its summer grassland filled with wild flowers, busy insects and the soaring sound of skylarks, it’s a favourite place to meet, walk our dogs and share thoughts.
We talked about making things to wear, use and display, taking inspiration from our surroundings and love of flowers and fabric, with sustainability at the heart of everything.
Combining our skills and knowledge of gardening, textiles and history, we’ve created a collection from natural and recycled fabrics, vintage embroideries and traditionally pressed and dried garden flowers.
Clare Herrington studied fashion design technology and is a skilled seamstress with an interest in upcycling fabrics and a particular passion for old denim. With many years of retail experience, initially in the fashion industry, she created and ran two successful independent shops in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, specialising in interiors and textiles.
Jacq Barber studied the history of design and her love of gardens, textiles and craft led her to work for the V&A, Bonhams and the National Trust. She has written a book about National Trust gardens and is passionate about growing, pressing and drying flowers and writing about their history.
