Rustic, wheel thrown ceramics for the home

Hello and welcome to my Folksy shop! I make wheel thrown ceramics for the home from my little studio in Chester. Inspired by the rugged and wild forests and coastlines around England and Wales, I create simple, organic forms with earthy glazes.

More recently, my work has developed after finding a Victorian ‘pork pie’ inkwell on one of my walks with my scruffy lurcher Bertie. This small find motivated me to start exploring bottle forms on the wheel which I thoroughly enjoy throwing.

I gained a BA (hons) in Applied Arts, specialising in ceramics in 2007 and since then I have been teaching Art and Design including ceramics in Further education and Secondary schools. I recently decided to set up a studio from home to work alongside my teaching, ultimately aiming for a slower pace of living.

Producing small batch ceramics is an escape from the world of mass production, giving a sense of nostalgia in creating something with my hands, similar to our ancestors. The nature of the process means that all pieces are unique with variations in the form and the finish of glazes.
