About Julia Tanner Art

Julia Tanner Art

We create beautiful unique Art that will lift your spirits and bring a smile to your face :-)

We are Julia and Dave Tanner and together we run Julia Tanner Art.

We were both born and raised in Essex where we met in the year 2000. We now live on the Isle of Wight after falling in love with the spectacular scenery during many holidays there. My paintings are inspired not only by The Island, but also from our many travels and holidays around the British Isles.

Our Mission is to create beautiful and unique art which lifts your spirits and brings a smile to your face. We use only the finest quality paint, papers and inks so our products will last a lifetime and beyond. However, because we control all the processes ourselves our prices remain affordable. We have built fantastic relationships with our suppliers, all of whom are based in the UK. At the end of the day, however, the most important part of our business is you because without ‘you’ there would be no ‘us'. Your satisfaction is our top priority and we offer a 100% ‘Happiness Guarantee’ which is backed up by our hundreds of written testimonials including over 90 Google reviews, all of which are five star. If you are not completely delighted with everything that you purchase from us we will do whatever is necessary to make sure that you are.
Whatever the reason.

How we began, by Julia. My love of art was sparked by two things: coming face to face with Henri Rousseau’s Tiger (in a Tropical Storm - Surprised) in The National Gallery - I was only 8, we made eye contact - and winning a prize in a schools painting competition when I was 10.

I don't ever remember a time when I wasn't drawing or painting but when I left school I was told by my Father and the schools careers advisor that I should get a ‘proper job’ so I started at NatWest Bank. In the meantime, however, I continued with my art and spent many years developing my skills both in the classroom and in experimental research, also gaining qualifications in interior design along the way.

It was the loss of my parents in 2005 and 2009 however, that triggered my total immersion in my painting as it became the most wonderful therapy to get through those dark times.

I started to exhibit in village halls and college exhibitions in 2011, selling my first painting at the RHS Hyde Hall Craft and Design Show in 2012.

With the support of Dave the shows gradually grew until I made the momentous decision to give up part-time work in 2014 and focus all my efforts on our own Business.
Dave had been working as a Landscape Gardener and Semi-Professional Photographer and was creating our prints at that time and we both realised that our passions could also become our full-time Business. My background working for financial institutions has given me the perfect skills needed to be able to run a successful business (thanks Dad!). Daves experience coordinating and curating exhibitions for photography groups has also played a large part in our success.
