I use traditional hand tools, silver sheet is cut by hand with my jewellers piercing saw, hand filed and hand polished with a pendant motor drill. I also use acid etching, hammering, reticulation and granulation techniques to add texture and decorative patterns. traditional stone setting hand tools are employed to set semi-precious stones.
I recycle copper wire from electrical wire. Sea glass is hand picked on the Yorkshire coast, crystals are locally sourced in Hull for their quality, shape and colour. All crystals that are wire wrapped are cleansed and charged.
Artistic inspirations include Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha and Margaret MacDonald, I love her mystical style.
I love making things, drawing, painting, and photography. I write poetry or spells; influenced by paganism, Wicca, ancient symbols, and the God and Goddess that is nature. My designs are based upon my own artwork; I started making jewellery at a night class in 2006 - I was hooked and happy because I felt I had finally found my destiny in life other than being a mum and wife.
I qualified from Hull College in 2011 with a BA hons in 3D design and jewellery making.and set up a gallery on Humber street, Hull. I worked, teaching jewellery making, working on my own collections, new client commissions as well as liaising with many artists and makers to arrange stocking of the Gallery and promoting it on social media. A year later I was burnt out being severely anaemic I left the partnership to concentrate on my family health and own career.
Currently I work in my garden workshop to create each piece myself ensuring a high standard of finish and all are unique; if repeats of a design are made they will always differ from the original. Part of me goes into each piece of jewellery that I make.
All Silver is sourced from a reputable UK supplier I am introducing eco silver to my new ranges as my stock depletes.
