Sewing and Painting with lots of colour!

I live and work from home in the stunning countryside of Wigtownshire, South West Scotland. I am married and have one son who is now studying at University in Edinburgh.

I originally trained as a Florist gaining full qualifications in Floristry and Design. I have always had a passion for sewing and painting and they were my Hobbies for many, many years. When I moved to Scotland back in 2012, the inspiration from our farm and beautiful countryside inspired me to follow my long awaited dreams of taking my hobbies further, so this is where I am at now, sewing and painting what I love, working from home in beautiful surroundings and at my own pace.

I purchase my Harris Tweed from independent weavers who all live and work from their homes on the Outer Hebrides. Each weaver has their own style and they produce many different colours and patterns. When I am sewing with it, it brings the outdoors in to me. The colours totally reflect Scotlands natural beauty, it's purple heather covered hills, blues of the sea, greens of the land etc.... It's amazing, I feel I don't need to look out of my windows sometimes!! Having a Sheep farm, it is also lovely to use a material that I have a close connection with.

My artwork can vary but again, it is usually inspired by nature. I do have a love for the old Red Telephone boxes though...how random is that?!!! I tend to either use watercolour or acrylic paints and sometimes just pencil. I mostly only sell my original work but prints will be my next venture.
