Making the most of the things which will 'come in handy one day'

I am a compulsive mender of things. I hate to throw anything away if it can be fixed or given another purpose. This is in no small part due to having a relatively money poor childhood but with a father who could make anything from seemingly nothing. He was a master of thinking outside of the box but only using what was inside the box as the resource pool. I went into general engineering at an early age and have developed many skills throughout 25 years in industry and then a further 20 years in education. Now having retired from teaching I am spending time in the workshop developing products from the stash of resources that I have been saving for some time. I particularly like mixing materials and practical disciplines to come up with something different. I am lucky to have been around many very talented people throughout my career and have learned many skills along the way. This allows me the relative luxury of being able to jump from lathe to plasma cutter to welder to router to laser as the projects develop. I particularly like working with artists and passing on some of my practical skills to enable them to make better art. I still love teaching and I hope to develop the wood turning/pen making further and add welding and forge work courses into the mix. I am available for commissions in metal, wood and mixed media and I still love a challenge as long as it is not too heavy (the body is getting too old) I am artisan rather than artist and loving the freedom that semi-retirement is giving me.

Buying from me

From early beginnings in the garden shed making items family and friends I gradually have scaled down the day job and expanded the workshop. I now make my own range of laser cut jewellery, exclusive lampshades, handmade wooden pens and desk sets as well as assorted quirky home ware. I run workshops teaching woodwork, welding and wood turning and take commissions for unique items. Wherever possible I use reclaimed/recycled materials. All of my custom pieces are identified with my logo.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Please note: Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken.
