Nautical designs and gifts by marine illustrator Claudia Myatt

I live on an elderly tug boat up a creek in Suffolk, and as you can see I'm obsessed by all things nautical - rivers, creeks, coast, sea and sail. I have a little dinghy for a gentle sail on the river after a hard day in the studio, and I also crew on a pilot cutter in Cornwall whenever I get a chance. In winter, I run away to sea properly and sign up as art tutor on cruise ships, so there are not many nights of the year that I sleep ashore!

I've been drawing boats and the sea for 25 years and never run out of inspiration. My studio is close to the river in a converted stable, and since investing in sublimation printing presses a couple of years ago I've had great fun putting my designs onto coasters, mugs, tiles, jewellery and anything else I can find.

I contribute cartoons and illustrations to several maritime publications; I also wrote and illustrated a series of how-to sail books for children commissioned by the Royal Yachting Association - that was great fun!
