You’ll find me doing things with glass in deepest darkest Yorkshire

I have a small workshop in my cellar at home this is the view not bad if I say so myself.

My glass obsession started 15 years ago (yes it really has been that long!) I was new to the area and knew no one. An adult education prospectus popped through my letter box and I thought oh, this could be a good idea. I found a stained glass evening class and went along and thought it’d be something to do on dark winter evenings. I didn’t really expect to be any good at it and I remember struggling for the first few weeks with cutting a straight line through glass. I cut my fingers a lot, ouch! It almost put me off, but I stuck with it and all these years later I’m still doing it (yes, still cutting my fingers with glass!) About 4 years ago I tried my hand at fused glass and immediately wondered why I hadn’t tried it sooner.

I get a lot of inspiration when I’m walking my dog. She’s a springer spaniel and we walk a lot. She never tires and we are out in all weathers and all times of the day. Whilst sometimes I look at her and pull the bed covers over my head, because it’s way too early for a walk, it does mean I see much more of the natural world than I probably otherwise would. I hear bird song, have seen deer stalking though woods, the sun set and rise and watch the colours of the day and seasons change. This all influences my glass work and although I haven’t been on folksy long I hope, over the coming months and years, to be able to show you what I see on my early morning dog walks.
