I was brought up in Surrey surrounded by dachshunds and chickens so it's no surprise that animals are my favourite subject matter. my love for dogs and all things furry or feathered runs deep and hopefully shines out in my work.
After achieving a degree in metalwork and jewellery I began a long career in the prop making industry, I loved making costume props on Star Wars and Gladiator, fabricating crazy critters at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in Camden and painting Disney characters to go in their flagship stores around the world.
Despite enjoying the work and the security of prop making the desire to create my own designs and artwork led me starting a business making quirky soft furnishings which I did for about three years. However, I never lost the desire to paint and eventually that overcame my enjoyment of textiles so I relented and began concentrating solely on painting and more recently sculpting.
My artwork is bold and often humorous, I have an eye for detail and like to capture the essence of the animal I am painting by using water based scenic artist paints and an airbrush. With both my painting and sculpture I occasionally like to enrich the pieces by using pastels, metal foil and French polish.
Now residing in Shropshire I create colourful artworks in my garden studio with my two adorable dachshunds and a crazy springer spaniel for company, not to mention the odd chaotic visit from the cat Mabel.
