Hello, Fran here. I've always loved to be creative and jewellery making started off as one of many hobbies which quickly took over! Over the years I’ve experimented with different methods and materials; using semi-precious stones, my own handmade polymer clay beads and flowers, or even hand illustrated shrink plastic, all the while dreaming of learning the skills to work with silver. Well last year I was finally able to do it, taking classes in a local workshop. It has opened a whole new world of creativity to me, being able to turn a sketch into a finished piece of jewellery using a saw, sheet metal and some solder feels like magic to me and I hope my love of the work is reflected in my pieces.
I’ve spent the last year refining my skills and turning the spare room into my little studio where I can be found making magic (and a mess!) overseen by two very lazy feline coworkers.
I find inspiration in many places but I’m always drawn back to nature. I love naturally occurring patterns and I’ll often collect leaves while out walking in Yorkshire, the colours and delicate veins on them are endlessly captivating and finding ways to capture them in metal is lots of fun. My copper leaf necklaces are my current favourites to make.
