"Playing with clay for the pure love of it"

Hello, my name is Louisa Riley and I am addicted to clay.

All of my creations are made in my little home studio in Scarborough, UK. I call it my "Fancy Frog Pottery" because I just love frogs....I have no idea why but maybe it is because my grandad was half French who knows!

Anyway, I have loved playing with clay / mud for as long as I can remember and have very fond memories making mud pies in the garden. There really is something very calming about squishing mud between your fingers.

I am mum to three teenagers who keep me very busy. However, as they get older and prefer to not hang around with mum so much, I am slowly finding more time for my passion that is all things clay.

I find that I get sporadic amounts of time to make things, sometimes I will go days without setting foot in the studio and then the urge to make overtakes me and I will be in there making random things until the dawn chorus. I am drawn to folklore, myths and legends, maybe this will at some point start featuring in my work. Mostly though I like to just get my hands messy and take a break from tedious housework. I don't often plan what I will make and just enjoy being away from the world at the top of the garden where I truly am in my element and usually making a lot of mess.
