About Eve Marshall: Artisan Felter

Eve Marshall: Artisan Felter

I'm inspired by the countryside I live in and my wacky brain.

I am a full-time artisan felter and teacher based in south Lincolnshire. I spent half of my life in America and moved back to the UK in 2009. I graduated from university in 2003 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts and Early Childhood Education. My background is watercolour painting plus all types of crafting when I was younger. I apply lots of different techniques to felting and I find that the medium works well for all different types of art. I have been working creatively with felt for over thirteen years using a variety of wet and dry felting techniques.

My original artwork pieces have over 50 fine layers of wool and other textural pieces to add depth and realism. I have always been inspired by nature and wildlife and love to see how much detail I can create using wool. The pieces I create now are very similar to the watercolour paintings I created when I was younger. I sell my original felted artworks, needle felted whimsical animal & bird sculptures, wet felted vases and bowls, flower brooches and more. Recently I have started having prints made of some of my originals and I enjoy using those graphics to make gifts with such as mugs, cushions and scarves.

In 2019 I started working on a series of pieces inspired by Barnsdale Gardens, Rutland. I met a group of my artist friends there once a month in 2019 and we would wander around the gardens, taking photographs. We then rented the studio there and spent the rest of the day making. Almost all the pieces I made last year have sold. This year I started doing the same, I wasn’t able to go in February but every other month I have gone and taken photos and then came home and created one or more pieces.

I have been featured in a couple magazines including Your Home (Springtime 2013), sold and taught at the Country Living Fair in London and spent sometime selling my unique felting kits on Hochanda on TV. I enjoy creating artwork for exhibitions and have been part of both solo and group exhibitions in both the UK and abroad.

I am one of the founders of ESC Artists and we annually curate exhibitions at Stamford Arts Centre. I co-founded Creative Lincs after lockdown and we put on lots of arty events in a Lincoln and beyond. In 2019 I became a member of Lincolnshire Artists Society.
