My motivation to paint and experiment with colour is part of me. I like to see where an idea takes me, so I approach each piece with openness, letting it flow, one thing leading to another. My work has been described as free and spontaneous, which I like.
I aim to capture the essence and soul of the pets that I’m asked to paint, and each new portrait is approached with love and care.

I work at home in my studio which is built in an old quarry on the Malvern Hills, so I have a dramatic backdrop to inspire me. My other home is the family lodge by the sea in North Cornwall where I also paint, make things and sketch out thoughts. I collect driftwood and ideas as I walk my dogs on the beach. They are a big part of my life and they appear often in my painting and craft. I have two Jack Russells Rock who is an old man now, and Rudi my pup and a rescue corgi mix, Blossom from Romania. I’m also a team member of The Pack Project a UK registered charity that rescues dogs from Romania. My life is actually just dogs!
