I am an enthusiastic hobbyist, living in Milton Keynes. I am limited to what I can do due to chronic illness and painting & drawing has been my main way of escapism. It was a more recent illness, in February 2019 that actually got me into Acrylic Pouring.
I had a detached retina, had emergency surgery and unfortunately was left with a tiny amount of damage to the macular (the part of the eye that provides sharp, central vision we need for reading and seeing fine detail etc.). Most of my artwork was fine detail pen and ink work and suddenly I couldn't do it. But I’m hopeful it will improve over time.
So, while recovering I decided to try and find something that I could do (you know the expression "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade"). That's when I discovered Acrylic Pouring. I love it! I love the process, I love the mess (not so much the cleaning up afterwards) and I love the results, most of them any way! I like the way you never truly know how the paint is going to react, that you can never create the same thing twice, thus making every painting unique. And then the way your imagination can run free looking into the completed painting. It is really mind boggling what my friends and family see in some of my paintings, that I don't see until they point it out.
I'm hoping to be able to get back to my other fine detail painting soon, if my eyesight improves. But I still have other crafts that I can do, in the meantime.
I love nature and animals and have a gorgeous, crazy furrbaby moggy, who keeps me company. Also, regular visitors to my garden in the form of squirrels and some absolutely, gorgeous hoggies, who are an absolute delight.
