About Elizabeth Larsen Knitwear

Elizabeth Larsen Knitwear

Elizabeth Larsen Knitwear fuses traditional knitwear designs with a contemporary twist.

I'm Jan, the person behind Elizabeth Larsen Knitwear and I like to create knitted accessories and ladies wear for the woman who enjoys wearing unique designs.

Like most knitters I'm is obsessed with yarns and wools and all those lovely fibres that are available today. I'm lucky to live in a stunning part of the world and constantly influenced by the colours and textures found in the landscape that surrounds my home. I'm also a great admirer of traditional knitwear designs and you’ll find some of my knitwear fused with traditional designs but with a contemporary twist.

I like to design knitwear that not only flatters women, but are stylish and practical too. Using quality yarns and wools many spun in the British Isles. I tend to design and knit with very fine almost sheer yarns to make the most delicate of items, and also combining different yarns together to create strong colour palettes in my knitwear.

Elizabeth Larsen Knitwear is a personal branding for my designs, not only does it reflect my style of knitwear but it’s also a little part of me…Larsen being my maiden name and Elizabeth my middle name. I've knitted for as long as I can remember; my mum knitted and my mum's mum knitted. We were a creative family, if we wanted something we tended to make it. In the mid 1980's I bought a domestic knitting machine and loved it that much that I went on every course available until eventually I was the one doing the teaching.

I started to knit commercially again after a long break and I'm really enjoying creating beautiful knitwear in my studio at my home in the Scottish Highlands; which is flanked by fields with sheep, old croft houses and the sea... a constant source of inspiration. In my spare time you'll find me up in the mountains or strolling along the beach; always looking for natural patterns, textures and colours to incorporate in a design.
