Earthworks Journals ~ Home of the Handmade Journal (& Binder!)

Thank you for visiting us. We're Samantha and Jason, a husband and wife bookbinding team. We make all of our journals and binders by hand, using the best quality leathers and 100% recycled paper, from our small workshop in Northampton, England.

Our work has appeared in film & television; travelled the world from the top of Everest to the Antarctic; carried into war-zones; crossed deserts; used by Bishops, artists, composers & authors; recorded births, deaths & marriages; they've contained the most public of events and the most private of thoughts.

Samantha has a background in fine art sculpture and Jason has a background in traditional crafts and we haven't stopped making things together since we first met in 1991. When we first started we sold at fairs and festivals across Britain but we now concentrate on selling online.

Our workshop is also our home, where we surround ourselves with the things that inspire us. So, as our tagline says, it really is the home of the handmade journal.

Buying from me

We make all of our journals & binders to order so that they can be personalised. We specialise in custom leather tooling, so if you have a special design or text you would like on the cover of one of our items then just get in touch.

Returns Policy

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Please note: Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken.

CANCELLATIONS
As we make each item to order we will only accept a cancellation of an order within 7 days of the order being placed and/or if we have not yet begun work on the order.

FAULTY, DAMAGED OR LOST
We will give a full refund, including return postage costs where necessary, on any item if it is faulty, damaged or lost in the post. Please retain all original packaging and contact us as soon as possible.
If you believe your item is lost in the post then please give it time to arrive, Royal Mail does not consider an item to be lost until 15 business days after the expected delivery date. A refund will be made after this time.
We cannot be held responsible for any consequential loss if an item is lost, damaged or delayed in the post.
Incorrect postal addresses given by the customer or failure of the customer to collect their parcel from their local collection office will not be considered grounds for refund.
