Here are some things just listed by other crafters and sellers on Folksy.
I have a studio at my home in Berkshire where I create my art, I have enjoyed art for most of my life. As a child I was drawing all the time while others were out playing, I loved drawing cartoons, my favourite was Snoopy!
When I left school I worked in the area of Graphic design, I did this for about 12 years, I also attended the Reading College of art and Design at this time, I learned a lot about design and typography during this time.
I was a full time Mum for a period of about 12 years when I just focused on my family. It was about 10 years ago I started making cards from home and things grew from there.
We added a bearded dragon named Clingy and a dog named Cody to our family and I began drawing them, I would draw other family members pets too. When other people began asking me to draw their pets I started to take things a bit more seriously, and began by setting up a facebook page to share my artwork, shortly after I opened my Folksy shop where I sold my cards, word art and pet portrait commissions.
In 2014 I did a Diploma in Cartooning with the London Art College which I really enjoyed, I passed with Merit, I now offer cartoon family portrait commissions to my customers. I love doing these and they have been really popular.
I feel I am still growing as an artist, I love what I do and I'd like to continue learning as much as I can. If I am not making art I am out and about looking for inspiration from everyday things, I am reading about art, learning a new medium, taking an online course or attending a local art class. Sometimes I can’t sleep at night because I am so excited about something I am working on.
Quite often I can be found shopping for new art supplies - which are slowly taking over the house!
I have recently taken up Linocut printmaking - I am enjoying this so much! All of my linocuts are printed by hand, without a printing press, using a wooden spoon, rolling pin or paperweight as a baren to burnish the back of the paper to transfer the ink to the paper. The excitement of revealing a print still gets me every time - I believe that linocut will always be in my life.
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy browsing in my shop.
