About Christine Dobbin Art

Christine Dobbin Art

From owls to otters and pigeons to pets- I love to paint animals!

After completing a foundation course in art and design I went on to study for a degree in Illustration for Children’s Book Publishing. During my studies I experimented with a variety of mediums and settled on watercolour as my choice of paint. I was encouraged to be as “loose” as possible with my painting and although I now work in a different drawing style I feel that my painting technique has kept the same spontaneous nature as a lot of my college work.
After graduation I headed in a different direction and started working as a veterinary nurse which was a exciting new challenge.
It was 2008 when I started gradually introducing painting back into my life alongside my day job and have been working on developing my skills since then. I’m excited to now be focusing 100% on my artwork and looking forward to seeing where it leads me.
I now live in the Lincolnshire Fens with my partner Nick along with Jingle,Peanut and Eleanor the cats plus our two rescue pigs, Eileen and Vincent Van Trough.
My art studio is a static caravan in our garden that I have filled with lots of nicknacks and colourful fabrics to inspire me.
I adore animals so it's no surprise that they are my inspiration when it comes to painting. Creating pet portraits is a joy as I love capturing the character and beauty in each pet whether it's a cat, dog or parrot.
My wildlife artwork is often inspired by the owls, foxes and birds I'm fortunate enough to see near my home as well as other gorgeous animals that are not so local.
