Shop Announcement:

Due to the post-Brexit regulations, I'm afraid that I cannot post out to Europe until I can understand the implications of the legislation. I apologise for this, and will look into it when I have time.

About Cardillac

Cardillac

I channel my inspirations and experience into my work, with an eye on sustainability.....and a bit of fun!

I have been a crafter all my life. My main aim is to work with recycled and 'old/antique' materials as far as possible. I mainly work in recycled silver, maybe with a touch of gold (or other metal) adornment. I seek out 'old stock' stones, wherever possible, to save obtaining new-mined ones.
Sometimes I like to improvise, I'm a bit of a 'jazz jeweller' in that respect . I also have some stock models which I have crafted over the years for casting patterns. These pieces are marked as such in the shop descriptions. I am registered with the Sheffield Assay office and, wherever possible, my work will be hallmarked or stamped with my registered punch.
I've always been excited by the Arts & Crafts movement (Morris, Burne-Jones) and especially the Fin de Siecle tide of Art Nouveau which followed on, using the organic shapes of entwined roots, plants, and their asymmetrical forms. Music is a big inspiration too; a life at the bench allows plenty of time for this!
Outside of craftwork, I have always been an organic gardener. I grow fruit and vegetables, and, alongside, the 'more natural' areas of my garden and a pond, are collectively enjoyed by the wildlife. It is fascinating, inspiring and relaxing. I love hiking and plant trees with a local group. I also play guitar when I can make time.

I thank you for taking time to look at my page. Please do feel free to email me if you have any questions about any of the pieces in my shop or if you wish to discuss a commission.
