Hapiness is working on a beautiful vintage sewing machine.

In these weird times the phrase 'sewing mends the soul' has never been more true for me. I am a book designer, I make notebooks and I sew. I work from my studio flat in London and when the weather outside is not so good for gardening, which I also love, I'm inside cutting and stitching fabric or paper.

My passion for handmade comes from my grandmother and my aunties. In our house they were always sewing, painting pottery and creating beautiful objects. My grandmother could draw any pattern from scratch, a skill that I am yet to acquire.

I like using every bit of fabric to make useful and pretty objects. I have a very old Singer sewing machine and a new one but I prefer working with my old Singer. My inspiration is nature, always. Flowers, leaves and the small creatures in the garden.
