After six years of art school, you're supposed to make a clean website, have an up to the minute social media profile, and rampantly socialise with all the right people. I can't be bothered with any of that. It's a crock.
I've drawn pictures and made objects since I could pick up a pencil and squeeze a blob of plasticine into shape. It was my favourite childhood activity, out of many; I love doing it now, and I know I always will.
Art, in it's purest form, for me, has always been really simple, accessible and fun. I want to distil and share the things that inspire me, and communicate the things I find wonder in with other like-minded people.
The world is burning and we may well be on the road to the decline of civilisation as we know it. So why make stuff, why draw pictures at all? For me, the answer lies in the most basic of human activities: communicating and sharing, exchanging knowledge and culture. Will it save us? Perhaps not. But it can, and should, make our brief stay on this planet more meaningful and enjoyable.
