The 'Aztec' inspired trend is everywhere this season - this necklace captures tribal style using beadwork and sparkling crystals in edgy haematite grey and metallic purple. The name 'Aquila,' meaning eagle, came to me when I started photographing this piece, as it began to resemble a bird spreading its wings and tail feathers in flight.

Beadwork with edge - a statement necklace which echoes the aztec look that's so on trend this season.
This necklace features an beadwoven pendant formed by three beaded motifs. A central 'shield' element has been hand-stitched in Japanese seed beads in shades of gunmetal grey and vibrant metallic purple. This motif is embellished with rich purple glass pearls. The centerpiece is linked on either side by two matching beadwork rings, each adorned with sparkling Swarovski crystals in a stunning shade of 'purple velvet' with a 'rainbow' or 'AB' coating effect that gives them an irridescent blue 'flash.'
A tassel of gunmetal coloured plated chain drapes from the central motif, which has been embellished with wire-wrapped glass pearls and crystals to create extra dazzle and movement.
The beadwork section of this necklace measures approximately 3 inches across and is hung from a gunmetal coloured plated metal oval link chain. The chain on this piece is approximately 15 inches long, which give the piece an overall length of 18 inches. A 2 inch extension chain has also been fitted to allow the necklace to be adjusted. The necklace fastens with a lobster style clasp.
