Meet the maker Karen Cooper

Like many who make jewellery, it started for me as a hobby after I bought my lovely goddaughter a jewellery making kit for her 11th birthday and thought “I could do that” - and so I did. I’m completely self taught (apart from 2 years of silversmithing classes) and unlike many beaders, I started out with wirework rather than traditional beading and my first piece was a bracelet made from a coil of wire, a bag of beads and a clasp. The technique I taught myself then is one I still use 12 years later.

I love using colour in my designs and am attracted to unusual colour combinations. While my everyday jewellery is quite bold and colourful, my bridal jewellery is best described as simple, clean and elegant and I like to let the beautiful crystals and pearls do the talking.

The designs in my everyday collection are usually one-offs, so can't be recreated, but many of my bridal designs can be made in colours other than those advertised and I’m quite happy to try unusual colour combinations that suit your colour scheme - so please ask. Please note however, while I’m happy to customise existing designs, I don’t offer a full bespoke service.

I hope you like my designs - whether you’re buying for your wedding day, a special person or just to treat yourself.
