Meet the maker Patricia Smith

I have always loved silver for its brilliant shine, its versatility and the way that it changes, day by day, like a living thing. Two years ago I had the urge to try my hand at something new, so I signed up for a silversmithing course. From the moment I made my first ring I was hooked! I like to experiment with new techniques and rarely make the same design twice, so each item is unique.

There are two themes that I keep returning to for inspiration. One is the natural form and texture of the trees and flowers in my garden. The other is the spiral formations that occur all around us - in tendrils, snail shells, fingerprints, whirlpools, tornadoes, spiral galaxies and of course the DNA molecule which is the key to life itself!

I hope you enjoy my jewellery designs as much as I enjoy making them!
