Meet the maker Kath Heywood

About me ~I live in Lancashire, surrounded by glorious countryside and mill towns which have a strong textile heritage. I have access to local mill shops where I source many of my materials. My interest in art and textile crafts started in childhood. I later went on to study textile crafts at teacher training college in Sheffield. Over the past few years I have been inspired to paint colourful seascapes, which I began to interpret in an abstract style. I have developed an artistic style which creates images vibrant in colour, shape and pattern. This is also reflected in my textiles, the colour combinations often come from my paintings. All my work is made to a professional high standard using only quality materials, these may be new or reclaimed and will be chosen with care for their suitability for each handmade item.
