I have spent my life making things, sewing, crochet, drawing, gardening, cooking.
I live with my husband, son and dog Meg on a 120 acre sheep farm in the heart of rural Nidderdale an inspirational area of outstanding natural beauty.
On walks around the farm I started collecting pieces of sheep fleece caught on shrubs and trees wondering if I could use them to crochet! I knew nothing other than I loved how these stray pieces of wool when washed, turned into soft fluffy fibre.
I taught myself how to process the wool, washing, dyeing, carding, spinning and I'm still learning. Along the way I fell in love with felting and that's mainly what I focus on today.
Instead of collecting wool from the fields I now hand select my fleeces from our flock in summer each year. I sort, wash, dye and card them myself a time consuming but rewarding process. I then have a supply for the following year.
In addition I use Merino wool, silk and assorted fibres. I love texture and colour and you will see that reflected in my work.
I use both wet felting and needle felting in my creations and will often add free motion embroidery to highlight details.
As well as the Felt Art you will see Up-cycled textile Art in my shop made from scraps of fabric and wool left over from other craft projects, nothing goes to waste!
I am currently working on spinning our fleece to make Art Yarn and have been weaving this into Scarves and Cushion covers.
