Whimsical, joyful images for uncertain times

I am what the americans call a Senior… I came to drawing, sketching and painting late in my life . Started at a life drawing class in Beckenham with an amazing teacher John who wanted us just to be Curious about what we see and express that curiosity on paper. It was such a freeing moment at that moment I realised I could make designs that are pleasing and joyful to the eye. Rose Wylie is my inspiration as is Isabella Ducrot. Both artists well into their later years and just continuing pushing the boundaries mostly for the sheer pleasure of doing so. I live now in the Peak District surrounded by incredible countryside. I sketch, or doodle a lot my family, flowers and then just what pops into my imagination. I use black pen and ink, water colours , watercolour pencils and occasionally acrylics and I have even created an oil painting. I love the immediacy of picking up a pen and getting on with it.
I love to create celebratory cards for my daughters and my grandchildren, so I often get requests from the younger ones which takes me into the work of the characters in gaming videos. Another art world altogether .
