Hello I'm Helen from Thimbleville.
I work from a little corner of my home in a small town in Somerset.
Inspired by my garden out of the window, and the changing seasons around me, I create my one of a kind characterful little sculptures using wood, wire, and painted polymer clay.
Delicately coloured with paint, and decoupaged with patterned papers, each piece has a smooth, worn, vintage feel.
I hand shape and mould the polymer clay, firing and painting to finish and add wire stalks to my clay flowers, leaves and toadstools.
Often found treasures like old buttons and wooden bobbins add detail. I love choosing from my growing collection of vintage buttons, bits of wood, and pretty papers.
Tiny ink stamps are used to add words, hand stamped messages of love and encouragement that finish a piece.
During my degree in Wood and Ceramics I developed my love of using recycled materials alongside clay, putting different things together to create something new. I love to play and explore the array of found treasures I've gathered!
