I have been working under the name Th' Hand of Spice since 2012, inspired by an oil painting I created of my Grandmother's old house called 'Cross O Th' Hands'.
I used to create work as a hobby along-side focusing my school work - I dabbled in painting, drawing, clay work, bear making, digital art, animating, and eventually discovered needle felting in 2015.
I graduated from university in 2019 after studying Animation for three years, however, I shortly afterwards fell pregnant with my first child and couldn't find the time to commit to it after his birth. I had my second child in 2022, and due to impossible childcare costs, decided to leave my retail job and work from home trying to get my small business that I always dreamed of off the ground.
After successfully selling on Etsy I have decided to take a leap and set up on Folksy too! Hand making items is so important and I love how passionate Folksy is about keeping handmade alive, I am excited to be a part of that too!
