Welcome to The Wandering Beachcombers Folksy shop!
We started making jewellery with Scottish sea glass and vintage pottery pieces back in 2018. We were both working in quite stressful jobs and also taking care of an elderly parent. We needed to do something creative and we love being by the sea. So, it was quite exciting when the idea came about to make something with the sea glass and pottery pieces that we had collected. The pieces were just too beautiful to just put in a jar. We love the idea of upcycling our find into something that can be cherished again.
I (Shelley) have always loved beachcombing and my husband (Steve) is now addicted too! We even get a little competitive as to who is going to have the best find of the day. Our little dog, Bonnie, loves spending time on the beach too. We swear that she hunts sea glass for us. If she sits down, we always seem to find an amazing piece of sea glass next to her.
Each piece that we create is unique as we organically wrap each design. We never drill into the sea glass as we prefer to keep it as the sea has created it.
We also create handpainted pictures of Scottish wildlife and scenery on wood slices.
