Artisan Glass Art created with joy and enthusiasm in my glass studio in Scotland

Welcome to The Creative Cauldron. I create ornamental, practical and personal items with specialised COE 90, COE 96 artisan glass and recycled float glass in my glass studio in Scotland.

I enjoy creating vibrant dimensional art through glass fusing and stained glass. While both art forms have stunning coloured and clear glass, they are created very differently using various techniques with different tools.

Fused glass requires a kiln that heats the glass to high temperatures which allows the glass to bend, drip, flow and merge together. The stained glass I love to create is achieved through the use of copper foil and solder to hold the glass together.

My obsession with glass started over 8 years ago after visiting an art gallery in Edinburgh and looking at the beautiful windows in the stairway. The different ways they looked depending on the time of day was beautiful. Its often very cloudy in Scotland, with just a little light these windows come alive – I was hooked! I started to research all the different art forms that utilise glass and within a couple of years had set up my own glass studio in my home, I am now in a converted room that was our garage. It’s definitely my happy place.

Every fused glass piece I make is designed, cut, layered and fired in my studio kiln. Stained glass is precisely cut, gently put through the grinder, foiled and soldered with love and care and a lot of polishing!

When I am not cutting glass, I am often found walking my adorably crazy border collie Rosie or relaxing in front of the fire with a latte listening to music and creating designs. Nowadays, I enjoy a quieter gentler pace of life feeling lucky I am doing what I love.
