Hi, I'm Hannah otherwise known as The Artisan Duck.
I spend my days making jewellery from polymer clay and bead weaving. I aim to get as much pattern and detail into my jewellery in order for each piece to feel like a mini work of art and for the wearer to feel as though each piece is a special and unique as they are. I like to think of my jewellery as fun and playful whether it be a floral patterned beaded necklace or ocean inspired with fish swimming across it!
I also love to make seasonal decorations so, from around August/September, I'm often found making cute Santa's and angels along with spooky pumpkins and grim reapers!
Polymer clay is a mouldable clay that is available in a wide selection of colours and which lends itself to a variety of techniques. Once the clay is shaped and patterned it is put into the oven to harden. I finish all my pieces with a varnish as I find this really brings the colours out and give the pieces a professional finish.
Bead weaving is a technique where beads are sewn together with a special beading thread and needle to hold the beads in interesting shapes and patterns.
Along with making jewellery to list for sale, I enjoy updating my blog and YouTube Channel with tutorials and the occasional crafty vlog. I have also written for Bead and Jewellery Magazine and produced video tutorials for Creative Fabrica.
My work is inspired greatly by nature and when I am not at my craft desk I can be found pottering around my garden with my rescue cat, Shadow.
