Although I had worked at making curtains for many years, when I retired I helped start up a patchwork group, and learnt how to make patchwork quilts and bags and generally sewing of all kinds of things.
After visiting Jaipur in India in 2020, luckily just before the pandemic. I had the privilege of watching the ladies doing Kantha stitching and I was able to try it for myself. I was amazed how effective it could be in so many ways.
So with the help of my sister Anita LInda we started thinking that so many people think hand embroidery is not for them, and yet it is such a simple running stitch which can add texture, and by layering fabrics it adds another dimension as well as patterns. Even my grand children can do it! Fraying the edges of the linen and hessian can also give a look altogether.
Unfortunately a little while ago we had a lot of hospital visits, and waiting rooms can be quite tense to say the least. we found that by taking our slow stitching with us ( it didn't take up much room ) It was much easier to bear.
The absolutely best thing about slow stitching is there are no rules at all and it's Sew therapeutic.
