I make jewellery from silver clay - it’s magic!

I'm Jan, I live on the south coast a stone’s throw from the sea with my husband and our big, fluffy rescue cat.

I’ve always enjoyed making things and have had many different hobbies over the years including ceramics, scrapbooking, needle-felting, decoupage, knitting and crochet, macrame – I’ve had a go at most things! I was looking for something else to inspire me and came across silver clay…I did one workshop and I was hooked! The sheer wonder of turning a little lump of clay into a sparkly piece of jewellery is incredible - sheer alchemy! I have been absorbing as much knowledge as I can about this wonderful craft and my plan is to turn this hobby into a small business for my retirement, with the constant support of my equally creative husband. I am studying for my Silver Clay Diploma and eventually I hope to run workshops myself.

All of my jewellery is hand-crafted in my little home studio, using fine silver (silver clay) which is an eco-friendly way to make silver jewellery but I also love to use gold plate and responsibly sourced gem stones; my packaging is also recycled and eco-friendly.

Living by the sea gives me inspiration to create pieces using natural, organic shapes and textures; I chose the name Sea to Sky to reflect the themes of my jewellery. I have made moulds from shells and flowers as well as using leaves and seed pods that I have found, nature has so much to offer.
