Sac 'n Rope

Resin Jewellery and Ropey things

After a career in software development I decided to cut loose and do something I was passionate about. I have always wanted to be my own boss and having always loved making things. I started by teaching myself to make rope baskets. I did a few craft shows, but am not really a salesman, and was a bit hopeless at promoting my baskets. I sold a few, especially placemats, to friends and contacts and even the odd sale to a 'real' customer. But the frustrating thing is that similar products can be found on Etsy and the like, mostly made in Eastern Europe and costing a fraction of what I can make them for, My goal is to use UK suppliers whenever possible, to support small British businesses. If that makes my offerings more expensive, then I hope to reach like-mined customers who are prepared to pay a fair price for home-grown goods.
Then this year, I was selling some jewellery on Vinted, and thought I could try making similar - just for fun. My first creation was a shell necklace. I put it on Vinted, to get a feel for whether people might like it. Within 24 hours it had 60 likes, and I sold it for more than the shop bought one. And my new passion was born!
I have been experimenting with different materials, techniques and styles. My collection is now making its way to Folksy!. Again, my goal is to use UK suppliers. You can probably get cheaper by buying from China, but every penny you spend in the UK, stays in the UK and supports our economy.

Thank you for your interest, and I hope you like my creations. If you do, please tell your friends!
