Hi, welcome to Roarin' Betty...

I'm a graphic designer and illustrator living on the beautiful south coast of England.

I don't use AI, Clip Art or any other of these new-fangled quick fix apps, but I do love a good vector.
So, I begin my designs with sketches, notes and photos, scan them into my computer then use a vector-based programme to develop the colour palettes and craft my illustrations.

I love the intersection of real-world sketching, mark making and the serendipity of a 'mistake', with the precision of a vector. When crafting my final designs, I try to capture the colours, movement and freedom of my original sketches.
When I'm happy with the design, I individually print it onto archival watercolour paper with Lucia Pro archival inks using my Canon ImageGrafPro printer. I love the longevity, sharpness and colour depth that my printer achieves.
I print just one or two prints of each design; allowing me to experiment with shapes and colour and continually update my designs.

For me, I love the way illustration captures a feeling or a moment in time. It satisfies a compelling need to process, connect and hold fleeting moments in time close to my heart.
