Hello there, I am Nicola, and I run Perren Studios, working onto textiles and paper from my lovely little studio in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. I have been drawing and playing with textiles now for over 30 years and when I stepped aside from full time lecturing a few years ago, I chose to use my skills by making one-of-kind, artisan crafts.

I love to play with colour and fully engage with a process. So when I say a wall hanging or bag was hand painted, it also includes the making of my own seaweed based textile pastes and even the tools. Additionally, they are likely to also include hand printed appliquéd elements, hand stitching, quilting and hand finishing.

If you love one-of-a-kind products then please look no further. Whether it is a hand-painted fabric, a paper based monoprint or a collage study, it will always be a unique gift or treat for yourself. If you love colour that is not too shy, then my pieces can provide it as a pop or, as a statement.

I believe, with a little extra time and care from myself as the maker, you can be the proud owner or, ‘giver of a gift’ that is unique, hand crafted, fun and well considered in its conception.

Now then, I do get a lot of requests from people who want to take the bespoke nature of my work to another level. These people want to use my fabric to make their own items such as purses and cushions or, for patchwork and applique. Well fear not, I also have that covered with my limited-edition screen printed ‘big quarters’ and, I also create bespoke panels for dress making, quilts and wall hangings.
