Welcome to Nanny’s Baby Nest,

I’m Daiga!

I named my shop, Nanny’s Baby Nest, because I love making cute hand knit
clothes for babies. That being said, I adore all children, so I do make items
for kids up to age 10, but babies are the most fun!

I was just 7 years old when I learned how to knit from my mother and crochet
from my grandmother. The first thing I made was a bright yellow hat for my
doll, and I was so proud! This was in addition to taking knitting lessons at
elementary school (I’m originally from Latvia).

My love for textile crafts became such a passion that I decided to attend a
creative college to learn machine knitting, and I became a “professional”
knitter, doing both hand and machine knitting for various companies in the
UK.

I opened an Folksy shop because I wanted to share the craft I love with others.
My shop is still growing, and I hope to add all kinds of new products,
including holiday items, baby blankets, Christening gowns, as well as more
hats, booties, socks, jumpers and some personalized items. Since I also love
dogs, I might add a few items for them too!

I really love whimsical designs and styles, and I enjoy making baby items for
all of the special events, occasions and holidays throughout the year so that
your child is always in style!

I also do custom knitting, so if there is a pattern out there you really love,
just let me know and I can set up a custom order where you can choose the
colors and type of wool to completely make it your own.
