Hello my name is Melissa Parkinson

I started my business after graduating from a Textiles and Surface Design degree at Cleveland College of Art and Design, Teeside. After I completed, I started working as a supervisor at Laura Ashley to gain some working experience. Along side that, I was freelancing for a company in London, where I designed children's designs for fashion and furnishings. I sold many of my designs at trade fairs in America.

A few years later, I met my husband which I didn't realise would be life changing for me. He had a job overseas in the Middle East and we moved over to Abu Dhabi and Oman for 14 years. We loved every second of it, and eventually we had our two gorgeous boys George and Hayden. I continued Milly B Designs over there and had a very positive response to my handmade creations. Even making keepsakes for Ramadan and Eid, which was very different to things I've made before, but I loved creating each piece with love and care.

In February 2026 I moved back to my home town of County Durham, UK and started my business here and set up this shop. I am now excited to start creating all your handmade pieces.
