Name/ Influences:
Miamba - meaning "rocks" in Swahili - came about following several years of writing for, and being inspired by entrepreneurial African bead artists. This influence is subtly reflected in certain pieces at Miamba Boutique, as is Gothic/ Medieval architecture, nature, and the Art Deco era.
My Process:
All items at Miamba Boutique are individually, and personally handmade by me, employing techniques honed over the past two decades. They say you can't cater for every taste, but as an ambitious type, I am forever experimenting with various jewellery-making techniques and crafts to expand my ranges. I therefore hope you find something suited to your personality among the eclectic choice offered.
Though normally a stickler for perfection, I often work with handmade and recycled glass beads, as well as naturally formed stones, due to their intrinsically beautiful, subtle inclusions and imperfections. I believe these qualities bring true character to a piece, and hope when you hold one of my items yourself, you too will appreciate its quirks and uniqueness!
