About Marethdale

Marethdale

Inspired by the North Lancashire landscape and my Shetland sheep

I am inspired by the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, and the very beautiful Morecambe Bay. Ten years ago I got my flock of Shetland sheep, processing their fleeces myself - washing, combing, carding and ultimately spinning it into skeins so you too can enjoy and appreciate their beautiful wool.

Marethdale is the culmination of my love of wool, particularly from the British Isles and most especially from my sheep.

I love to weave and knit, and I am lucky enough to demonstrate weaving at Farfield Mill in Sedbergh once a week.

I am a one-of-a-kind maker. My handspun skeins of Shetland wool are all subtly different even though they may look similar. They all mix and match beautifully, making your projects truly unique.

I live in a small village with a fisherman, a cat, and a dog. In the summer I can be found in the garden or rambling about the countryside and trying to get fleeces washed and dried - very much depending on the weather!
