“Cute and funny greeting cards for animal lovers!”
An illustration degree and a love of animals led me to creating creatures out of wool and spun cotton from my cosy home studio in London.
My work is deeply animal character-driven, and my goal is always to create a whimsical, one-of-a-kind keepsake that makes people smile. I have a profound love for illustration from all eras, and I always felt fascinated by how a great drawing can feel so full of life, as if the character might step right off the paper. To bring that storytelling magic into the three-dimensional world, I work with needle felt and traditional spun cotton.
Both techniques allow me to avoid modern, cold materials like plastic or smooth clay. The soft, textured warmth of wool felt is absolutely perfect for animals, while wrapping raw cotton around a wire skeleton creates an organic, paper-like surface that holds brushstrokes beautifully. Both mediums retain that special element of a character coming alive out of a storybook, looking exactly as though they have popped right off the page to keep you company on your shelf.
I make photographic images of my work, which led to me creating a range of greeting cards for Ohh Deer and illustrating two children's picture books published by Penguin Junior.
My animals have found homes around the world and have been featured in magazines including that of the New York Times.
