Having spent a lifetime around horses, both riding and in harness, one develops an eye (and nose) for quality leather, harness and craftsmanship. Particularly while working my heavy Breton Horse, dragging tonnes of logs through the woodland, or muck spreading the fields on our family small holding, my deep respect grew for leather’s versatility, immense strength and durability. My passion is to create strong, hard-wearing items whilst also exploring the natural beauty and sensual elegance of leather. All work is done by hand, typically using the traditional saddlers’ stitch, which, unlike machine stitching, employs a twist within every stitch, so if one stitch goes the rest don’t follow!
I have a wide range of products available from dog-ware to belts, key rings, bags and much more besides. All my leather is English, sourced either from a long-established family-run tannery in Bristol or the beautiful Segwick leather. Most of the hides used are plain ‘veg tanned’ which I dye by hand. Fittings are almost always solid brass and a few are nickel plated. I can't stand flimsy fittings!
